Watashi is definitely a must read for all you romance addicts out there. The storyline is great and the drawings are really shounen like(just the way I like it) even though it's a shoujo manga. The romance has plenty of twists and drama but not too much to the point where it's confusing. The heroine in the story is clearly drawn and the mangaka shows off the main character very well.

Himuro Yukina, a girl feared by most students for her piercing glare, is secretly a famous cellphone novelist. While searching for material on 'love', something she has never experienced, she stumbles onto Shigure's, the most popular boy in school's, secret. He is actually a serious womanizer who writes down all his accomplishments in his Student ID book. Cleverly using this evidence, Yukina blackmails Shigure into love-acting and teaching her about 'love'. But Akira, Yupina's childhood friend and cousin, is not happy at all with this turn of events. Being used being the only person who's not afraid of Yukina's glare, how will he react to Yukina's sudden shift in attention? How will Shigure respond when the love-acting becomes more than just acting for him?

She has her weaknesses, but she's strong-willed and has her own interests, opposed to a lot of shoujo heroines who only think about love. She also manipulates the hero well, usually beating him at his own game, another thing you don't see too often in this genre. As for the hero, he's more of a jerk than usual, and more than once he sets the girl up for an unpleasant experience, trying to drive her off. He's also one of those types who only shows his real face to the girl, while everyone else thinks he's the perfect guy. The story is paced well; 8 chapters in, they're beginning to have feelings for each other but are still more enemies than friends.

Personally I find the art to be a cross between "cute" and "elegant" from times. I love the art in the series as well as the character designs. The best thing in my opinion about this series, is that the characters are flawed- one is afraid of opening herself up to others, the other manipulative. Not being a fan of perfect stereotypical moe characters, this really did make the manga stand out.

Good story and good art. Slightly more romantic than I was expecting considering how young the characters look, but it's still fairly innocent. The romance is fairly small-scale, not a bad thing, just don't look for hardcore "destined to be together" elements or anything, it's not that type of manga.

Sprout manga review

English: Sprout
Type: Manga
Volumes: 7
Chapters: 28
Status: Finished
Published: Jan 13, 2006 to May 13, 2008
Genres: Drama, Shoujo, Slice of Life
Authors: Nanba, Atsuko (Story & Art)
Serialization: Bessatsu Friend

Sprout is not exactly a shoujo manga but it is really good. Its different from how the usual shoujo manga goes. there is a Japanese drama based on this manga.

Although her life isn't exactly like a shoujo manga, Miku Ikenouchi's friends are convinced that it's pretty close. They say Miku is "doing well in the spring of her life"... Miku, on the other hand, is a bit skeptical. Sure, she has recently started dating a third year, has a decent part-time job, and her home life is peaceful. In fact, you could even say that Miku is content... but, maybe, too content?
Unfortunately, Miku no longer has time to find out when she comes home to find out that her father has quit his job, and her parents are turning their home into a... boarding house? And, even worse, one of the new boarders is a guy from the her school?! Miku is quickly going to find her peaceful days a distant memory from the past...

I guess you could say that the manga is unique in a way that the main character isn’t exactly your typical girl: she already has what most shoujo leads strive for. And the story isn’t quite as clear-cut because the characters just aren’t typical shoujo. However, that doesn’t stop most people from hating Miku for ditching her dreamy boyfriend for a guy who already has a girlfriend (Yes, I’ll admit it, I was one of those people). But if you look at it more objectively, it really is kinda different.

The side characters made my day. Tanigawa, our closet otaku is probably one of my favourite characters in the manga, followed closely by Miku’s friend with the dark, short hair. Even if you hate Miku to pieces, the other characters will definitely make up for it, I think.

As for the art style… I like it. Why is that shoujo manga almost always has good art? Maybe because we’ll still read it just to drool over the bishies, even if the plot sucks  (in some/most cases).

I think this one can be a hit or miss. Either you’ll stop reading it because of Miku, or you’ll see past it and appreciate a slightly different take on shoujo manga.

Evil dead movie review

The remake of the hit classic “Evil Dead” is in theaters now and delivers a good scary and gory film for the spring. Sam Raimi, who directed the original Evil Dead, teamed up with Diablo Cody to write and produce this remake. Directed by Fede Alvarez, “Evil Dead” stars Jane Levy as Mia and Shiloh Fernandez as David.

The remake does stay true to the original, the location, plots, and fate of everyone in the cabin are exactly the same. It does a very good job not to copy each character from the original or even the story. The remake is its own story with its own characters, so if you’re going to see this movie to compare David to Ashley, you will be disappointed. Ashley’s character is not in this film.

For fans, there are a lot of Easter eggs in the film, which will be fun for fans to discover as they watch. The one thing that was left out that might be disappointing to some fans was the recording tape, but it can be heard during the end while the credits play. There is also a special clip after the credits for fans of the original “Evil Dead.”

The remake is highly gory — and even though the poster claims to be ’The Most Terrifying Film You Will Ever Experience” — for most people this is not the case. Yes, there are scary scenes in the film, but the audience’s main reactions came from the goriness, such as limbs being torn off and needles and nails slowly coming out of the face and skin. It’s a complete bloodbath from beginning to end.

This film is not meant for children since there were many adults in the audience covering their eyes and some leaving the theater to take a breather. It’s a good movie to watch if you’re into a scary gory films and it’s not just meant to be seen by fans of the original. Just like the original film, Evil Dead 2013 will probably become a cult classic.

The host movie review

In the near future, a race of nomadic parasitic aliens -- called "Souls" -- have taken over humanity. The jellyfish-looking aliens are injected into humans, whose minds are then suppressed as the aliens take control, turning their hosts' eyes silver. Melanie Stryker (Saoirse Ronan), a member of the dwindling human resistance, purposely diverts a group of aliens by throwing herself out a window. But she survives and is implanted with her new alien Soul, Wanderer. Unlike other human hosts who fade away completely, Melanie's consciousness continues to speak to Wanderer and persuades her to evade her alien interrogator (Diane Kruger) and go to the desert hideout where Melanie's boyfriend, Jared (Max Irons), and little brother, Jamie (Chandler Canterbury), are staying. Only they don't see Melanie -- just the alien who's taken her body. Slowly, Wanderer -- dubbed Wanda by Melanie's wise uncle Jeb (William Hurt) -- starts to make alliances, including a confusing attraction to Ian (Jake Abel), Jared's more open-minded friend.

As sci-fi movies go, THE HOST is one part Invasion of the Body Snatchers and three parts maudlin romance. Director Andrew Niccol doesn't bother with much world building except for the fact that the pacifist Souls all have a thing for wearing shades of white and driving souped-up silver Lotuses; there's no real explanation for the hypocrisy of a supposedly pacifist alien race thinking that it's all right to parasitically control an entire species. And while reading the back and forth between Wanderer and Melanie made perfect sense in the book, the movie translates that by having a narrated dialogue with two different inflections -- Wanderer's smooth tones and Melanie's faux Louisianan accent.

While teen (and adult) viewers who are only interested in the steamy kisses and the mind-bending love quadrangle will be content, most audiences will laugh at The Host's unintentionally funny moments -- like pretty much every time the Melanie voice speaks. Ronan, who's riveting in films like Atonement and Hanna, is deserving of better, although at the very least she manages to pull off her romantic moments with both Melanie's love Jared and Wanda's suitor Ian with conviction. The movie is more of a frothy alien romance than a true science-fiction thriller

Minx book review

IT TAKES A MINX TO TEMPT A ROGUE...
Henrietta Barrett has never followed the dictates of society. She manages her elderly guardian's remote Cornwall estate, wears breeches instead of frocks, and answers to the unlikely name of Henry. But when her guardian passes away, her beloved home falls into the hands of a distant cousin.

...AND IT TAKES A ROGUE TO TAME HER
William Dunford, London's most elusive bachelor, is stunned to learn that he's inherited property, a title... and a ward bend on making his first visit his last. Henry is determined to continue running Stannage Park without help from the handsome new lord, but Dunford is just as sure he can change things... starting with his wild young ward. But turning Henry into a lady makes her not only the darling of the ton, but an irresistible attraction to the man who thought he could never be tempted.

Best thing about this book hands down is the pet name, Minx, given by the hero to the heroine. Minx is by far one of the most original pet names I’ve seen in literature or heard in real life. Very cute and fits the story perfectly. The worst thing about the book was this phrase and its variations: “I’m Henrietta Barrett, but call me Henry; everybody else does.” Completely overused. On top of that Henry is so boyish it’s hard to get behind. I much preferred Dunford’s further shortening of her name to Hen, sadly he only uses it a few times.
Rating: 4 Stars before the midpoint and 3 Stars by the end.

Being Nikki book review

Emerson Watts is still trying to adjust to life being supermodel Nikki Watts and being technically dead. She still tries to go to school and is still hoping her life-long crush will figure out she's really Em living in the body of Nikki. Just when she thinks she has the hang of her new life, she finds herself engaged in a undercover struggle with her sinister employer Stark Enterprises, running from a variety of Nikki's ex-lovers, and looking for Nikki's long-lost relatives. Can Stark really be as bad as it appears, and will she ever get to live her own life?
Author Meg Cabot does it again. Once readers pick up BEING NIKKI they will not be able to put it down. By now readers of the first book will be used to the idea of brain transplants, so that fantastical portion of the book doesn't take away from the intrigue and mystery of Stark Enterprises.

The novel is funny, the language realistic, and there is an intriguing mystery mixed in with the fluffy teen model and crush story lines. Cabot takes her readers on a great ride, and the only complaint most will have is that the ride stops and readers will have to wait for the next book to see what happens.

Taylor Swift Takes Lucky Cancer Survivor As Her ACMs Date!

Country superstar Taylor Swift was centerstage at the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. She was a vision in her gold and silver mesh dress on the red carpet, and she floored the audience with her performance of “Highway Don’t Care” with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. But Swift’s greatest ACMs moment came before the event started: Instead of showing up with some big-shot celebrity, Swift invited a 19-year-old fan named Kevin McGuire, who had been battling leukemia, to escort her to the show.
Last year, the New Jersey teen's sister launched a Facebook campaign to have the singer be McGuire's date to his high school prom. Bolstered by tens of thousands of followers, and the support of celebs from Perez Hilton to Troy Aikman, word finally got around to Swift herself. Touched by the invitation, Swift replied, “Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date?”

At the time, McGuire was too ill to attend the ACM awards. But since he is much healthier this year, Swift invited him and his whole family to come to the 2013 ACMs. A white limousine picked the McGuires up from their home in Somerdale, New Jersey, and drove them to the airport, where they boarded a plane to Las Vegas. McGuire accompanied Swift to the awards, but wasn't able to sit in the audience with Swift or walk the carpet with her; during the show, Swift sat next to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, while the McGuire family sat in the back left. But Swift met the McGuires backstage again after her performance.
Before the show, the family hung out in Swift’s hotel room and took pictures with her before she began preparing for the big show. After meeting his dream-girl, McGuire tweeted, “If you guys think she's pretty in pictures, I can't tell you how stunning she is in real life.”
This wasn’t the first time that Swift had reached out to a sick fan. In March, Swift visited a 10-year-old cancer patient in a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, and in January, she got together in Nashville with a 17-year-old girl suffering from brain cancer.

Selena Gomez ran away after first meeting with Jennifer Aniston

Los Angeles: Singer Selena Gomez says she ran away out of nervousness when she first met actress Jennifer Aniston.

Gomez, 20, is a big fan of Aniston, who is known for playing role of Rachel Green for a decade in popular sitcom ‘Friends’.

However, Gomez was completely starstruck by the actress, who has starred in movies like ‘Bruce Almighty’, ‘Horrible Bosses’ and ‘Wanderlust’.

"I ran away from Jennifer Aniston. When she said, `Hi`, I was terrified of her. I was scared, so I ran away and I`m really embarrassed about that," Gomez said on a radio show.

"I didn`t know what to do - it`s Rachel," she added.

Emma Watson bares it in new movie poster

The 22-year-old actress, who is all set to rebel against her innocent do-gooder character in the Harry Potter series, can be seen holding a gun in one of the stills, the Mirror reported. In another snap, the pretty actress shows off her toned stomach and flashes her bra.
Watson told GQ magazine that when she read the script and realised that it was essentially a meditation on fame and what’s become to the society, she decided to do it.

The Half-Blood Prince star, who will be playing the role of Nicki in the film, said that the character is everything that she felt strongly against- it is superficial, materialistic, vain and amoral.
Watson added that she agreed to portray the character of someone she would actually hate because she found it really interesting and it gave her a whole new insight into what her job or her role as an actress could be.

'We're going pretty big': Avril Lavigne reveals details on her upcoming wedding with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne says her upcoming wedding is going to be 'quite spectacular'.
The 28-year-old Canadian star – who was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley – has admitted she is planning a very lavish big day with her Nickelback rocker fiancé Chad Kroeger and plans to surprise him with a few romantic details.
In a joint interview with Chad on Tuesday, the 'What The Hell' singer told KIIS-FM's On-Air with Ryan Seacrest: 'It's going to be quite spectacular, and there's a theme to it.

'We're going pretty big, but Chad doesn't even know everything.
'I'm going to take the lyrics from the sheet music from one of our songs and wrap it around the wedding cake.'
Avril also opened up about how Chad, 37, proposed to her with a 14-carat diamond ring last August, after just one month of dating.
She said: 'I had been making this scrapbook of my time in the studio. I walk over and he had taken a photo of himself holding the ring box and put the Polaroid in my scrapbook. Because I had stickers everywhere he put in 'Will you marry me?' It was really romantic and kind of made sense.'
Chad revealed he was very nervous beforehand.
He explained: 'You can travel the world and sing songs to thousands of people and not have your heartbeat raised at all. You get down on one knee and commit yourself to a woman for the rest of your life. I was very nervous!'

The singer previously admitted he never expected to get married but meeting Avril changed his mind.
He added: 'There was a time in my life that I thought I would never get married. But this definitely took me by storm. Honestly, it was more my idea than hers to get married. I'm just lucky she said yes.'
The happy couple spent their Sunday together as well, on the Los Angeles set of 28-year-old singer's new music video shoot.

Her new song, aptly titled Here’s to Never Growing Up, had the songstress in a childlike dress that she layered over rhinestone-adorned fishnet stockings.
She teamed the look with a pair of red pumps, which she later switched for some more comfortable black fuzzy boots.
It looked as if Avril was playing dress up in her mother’s old prom dress and she had her long blonde hair out and matted.
A crown sat on top of her head and pitch-black eyes stared out from between her part.
Heavy eye makeup has always been a part of Avril’s ensemble, but she took it to the extreme for her shoot, almost resembling a racoon.
The singer was cheerful despite her goth-like makeup, though.
Her fiancé acted as moral support on set, beaming next to her on the backseat of a golf cart.
The pair got engaged in August of 2012 and seem to be even more in love than ever.
