What is Father’s Day?

Daddy, Father, Pa, Pop – Whatever you call them, dad’s are pretty special! In the United States, the third Sunday in June every year is Father's Day, a special day set aside to celebrate fathers, father-figures, and fatherhood!
Did you know that there was a Mother’s Day before there was a Father’s Day? Historians believe that different cultures going all the way back to the ancient Greeks and Romans had special days for honoring motherhood, although most agree that Father’s Day didn’t really come along until the 1900’s!
Most people date Father’s Day back to 1909, when a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd decided she wanted to honor her father! Mrs. Dodd and her five siblings had been raised by their father because their mother had passed away when they were young. One year on Mother’s Day, she decided that the hard work of fathers like her own and like many others deserved a day for recognition, too! Mrs. Dodd decided to celebrate her new holiday in June, because that was the month her wonderful father had been born in!
It took a little while for the idea behind Father’s Day to catch on, but pretty soon it had been recognized by the US President and thus emerged the father’s day

God took the strength of a mountain,
                                                   The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
He called it ... Dad

HAPPY FATHER"S DAY!
