Taylor Swift and Pal Selena Gomez Try to Have a Normal College Experience

Taylor Swift and one of her friends, pop star Selena Gomez, had the incredibly bright idea to try and enjoy a normal college experience when they flew out to visit Swift’s younger brother at the University of Notre Dame last September. While many young people envy Swift’s and Gomez’s rich and famous lifestyles, the grass is always greener on the other side. The duo wanted to see what it was like to just be normal and to fit in, if for a fleeting night.
The ladies even hatched a well-meaning plan to fit in with other students, but it backfired. Granted, most Notre Dame students are not best-selling singers who will stand out no matter what they do to blend in. But regardless, Swift and Gomez literally gave it the old college try!
“So we fly to Notre Dame and decide we’re gonna fit in,” Swift recounted in Gomez’s upcoming E! special, according to OK! Magazine. “We went and we got all this Notre Dame gear so we’re like wearing the Notre Dame jacket and the Notre Dame visor and we learned that’s not how you fit in at college, evidently.”
Well, duh, ladies! We understand the sentiment of wanting to support “your” team, but you try and be inconspicuous, especially when you are famous. You will inevitably call attention to yourself by overdoing it. We can just picture the girls standing out like sore thumbs, totally decked out in Notre Dame gear, like when Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall were cloaked in head-to-toe New York City attire in the ’80s comedy ‘Coming to America.’
“As we were walking around, masses of people ended up following us,” Swift recalled. “And yes, they had to call security, but it’s all we have that’s close to a normal college experience.” At least Swift and Gomez made a college-related memory.
Additionally, Swift and Gomez were allowed to watch the first game of the season from the sidelines, as Notre Dame beat Perdue. Post-game, they went to Rocco’s, a popular pizza haunt.
